>I am a boy of 16 and will have my first pas de deux on stage next month in a mixed performance of our ballet school. I will have to wear only red tights with no top, my ballerina wearing a long sleeved leotard. I am surprised that I get nervous about the fact that this will be my first time being topless on stage as a soloist before an audience with my parents and non-ballet friends watching. I should like to know if other boys felt the same way their first time and how they got along with it.
>As a male dancer who is already so advanced to do a pas de deux on stage you will surely have already experienced quite a number of minor roles. As being stripped to the waist in ballet is the most normal thing for boys and men (so at least in our company), as usual as tight leotards for us girls, I can't imagine that you are not familiar with that outfit. So the real cause of being nervous is not being shirtless on stage but presumably stage fright before your first solo. This is a common problem but also in no way unusual and you will surely overcome it. Good luck and best wishes! I'm Cindy age 17.
