From what you wrote, I'm assuming that you haven't taken any kind of ballet class, or it's been a long time since you last took dance class.
Go with confidence. Ask questions about the class you want to take, with the instructor. Ask if you can "audit" the class--in other words, drop in to see the other potential classmates, and to see how advanced the lessons are. Most private dance schools allow this, but you might want to arrange a time and date, for some instructors.
I think ballet class is a way of becoming creative, becoming balanced, and taking recreation one step further. I encourage you to become a dance student.
