Not if it's moderated they won't! >:-)
Interesting observations, LKMP; I pretty much gave up on this board a while ago, but I decided to carry on visiting & posting for a couple of reasons.
First, the crap seems to go in cycles - there's a flurry of homoerotic stuff, then it dies down. In between which, we actually seem to get some decent points raised & discussed; the presence of people like Dancing Doc is a big help.
Second, I guess one has to recognise that this board, by its very nature, is going to get a high concentration of 'borderline' contributions; and there are other boards to go to if you want to get away from that kind of thing. [shameless plug for www.balletalert.com]
Third, I guess we need a board somewhere that can act as a 'clearing house' for questions that are beyond the pale for places like balletalert.com, but still have to be asked. Believe it or not, I think that alot of the 'borderline' issues do need to be discussed. The only posts that I really don't think should be here are the gratuitous fantasy posts, and posts which are obviously written with more graphic detail than is necessary.
I agree with a sentiment expressed by Tom - some difficulties just aren't going to go away, and perhaps they do need to be discussed.
I reckon one of the most important things is to give encouragement to guys thinking of taking up dance (and that's why I get cross with the homoerotic stuff - it doesn't help anyone). I took up dance with apprehension, and now I love it; and I think it's a disgrace that there's still an atmosphere that it's somehow the wrong thing for a guy to do. It can be, and is, good clean fun; and it can benefit a lot of people in many ways. So I intend to hang around and keep pointing that out. (End of sermon.) [/i]
