Testosterone is indeed available by prescription only. It can be dangerous in the hands of the unwitting. For instance, women or girls (you said you have a wife and two daughters) who are exposed to it will masculinize - grow beards, voices will deepen, etc.

But be wary - there can be side effects, so these must be balanced against any gains you may achieve from the hormone. (NB: Also, supplementation can be rather expensive.)
