opinion poll: correct spelling - dancebelt or dance belt? (and more)

Balletmaster:     You are trying to read way too much into a space.  I have been experimenting with which looks better: "dancebelt" or "dance belt".  I think the spaced version "dance belt" is more traditional, but I've seen it each way. Since it is one item, the one word version is winning me over.  AOL doesn't recognize capitalization or spaces, so it doesn't change anything about my e-mail address.  Bottom line, whether my message hit or missed the mark with you, it was me writing it (and I am not "Apollony", "Disgusted" or anyone else who writes inflammatory messages here).  I certainly didn't mean to sound like a jerk, but maybe I was having an off day.

>When did "Dr Dancebelt's" messages ever sound this way?  And when did "Dr Dancebelt" ever us the word "perverts" or even imply that any posts were from "preverts?"

"Perverts" may be too strong a term of art, and if so, I apologize.  However, my pervert radar goes into super-scan anytime somebody asks for pictures.  You will have to admit many posts on this board don't sound like they come from legitimate danseurs.

>Sure Dancer in Despair said he was about 14.  I thought he was older.  But I never saw anything that led me to believe he was a "pervert."  Sure his questions were about dancebelts and buldges, but I would expect there's a lot of guys new to dance that have similar questions.

And that is why Dr Dancebelt exists!  Bring your questions to me.  The anonymity of the internet lets guys pose problems they would be embarrased to ask in person.  However, it isn't my intent to become part of of someone's dancebelt fetish, so I get to call "Bullshit" when I think it's appropriate.

>"Dr Dance Belt" wrote further: ">It's a pretty bold assumption to even think we've got pictures of ourselves in just out dancebelts to send him.  Somehow the rest of us manage to get dressed without visual aids."  Yeah, and I pee in the dark and never miss the bowl!  Sometimes a night-light helps!  And what do you mean...you're a ballet danseur and don't have at least one picture of your self in just a dancebelt?  My own favorite is in attitude derriere!

I am very proud of my ability to get up in the middle of the night and pee without any lights!  I've been practicing for years.  True, ever so often you don't get exactly the right sound from the toilet and don't know which way to re-aim.  But that topic belongs on a different board.

I actually performed a modern dance piece in college wearing just a dancebelt (the Danskin 1100 you spoke of), but don't have any pictures to show for it.  Maybe you could send me yours? <<>

>I can understand a new dancer having questions as to how a dancebelt should look on a real dancer.  Some of us pull the dancebelt up, some wear them down on the hip.  I expect the real "Dr Dancebelt" knows this and would understand when someone asks if there are "pictures."  Sure, we all have experimented with positioning our dancebelts, and I, for one, particularly learned about different positioning by watching guys in the dressing room.

When I got mt first one, I wore it "down" because it didn't come with instructions and nobody told me better.

>You have to remember that some of us were around when Danskin sold its model 1100, which came with a picture of a guy wearing the dancebelt, front and back.  Other smaller manufacturers, like Les Stein, used to supply pictures, too.

My first dance belt was a Les Steinhart, and it deserved the nickname we gave them: "nutcrackers".  The Danskin 1100 was an early attempt to create something more comfortable then the Les Steinhart standard model.  I had forgotten about the pictures on the wrapper until you reminded me.  However, if I recall correctly, everything in the picture was so rounded you couldn't tell anything about what was under the dance belt.

>Maybe Dancer in Despair, now ModernMan, is trying to pull one over on us.  But he did say in his post that he did NOT want to hear from sickos and perverts.

True, and that is why I posed the question of whether he was real or not, because I'm not sure.  Balletmaster, please e-mail me, and we can continue this discussion in private.
