written by Joe at on 11.11. at 16:49:24 Just one comment about body hair. In "Jabula", the men didn't wear shirts. From where I was sitting (not the greatest seat), they all looked pretty smooth. I think in a big theater like City Center, the audience doesn't see body hair on male dancers unless it's real dark and thick. If someone is worried about how he looks in a smaller space or in a dance studio, it's his body and if he wants to shave it, it is his business. As for it being effeminate, I grew up in a cultural back water and was labled effeminate just because I took ballet classes. Ancient Greek actors (who were dancers too) shaved everything. But then they danced naked quite a bit. :) Answers to this message:
