Were these other dancers or just nosey people? couldn't you close the blinds? Do you have any? Did you speak to your instructor? You replied....the spectators were people waiting for spouses children etc. it didn't take long for the word to spread that there was a grown man in tights in one of the classes. there were no shades people actually stood in the doorway to watch and i could hear them laughing and making rude comments. i just really want to learn ballet, but i think in a private setting would be best. Look, what was the studio...Canton Ballet? Do they have a website? If not, what's their phone number? Who runs this place? NO studio should allow an atmosphere that is inappropriate for any student. If this happens, the studio should take steps to STOP it. If they don't, the studio should be taken to task. I'd find some place where they respected adult students. Private lessons are not always the best. Private lessons are very difficult and demanding. Anyways, you should be able to learn in a class where people respect your interests. Sounds like Canton is pretty sick, where people make remarks about a man in tights. It is so obsurd that your teacher and studio director did not defend you that, if it's true, ballet people across the country should step up and act against them. Let us know who they are, their website, their address, etc. and we'll take the first steps to let them know this is not the way to run a studio. balletboy Answers to this message: |
