Saturated fats should be avoided; monounsaturated fats are good, as are the omega-3 oils. I believe that American Heart Association recommends a diet of about 30% fats, about 20 grams of fat per day, with <2 gams of saturated fats. I don't know many people that monitor their daily diet down to the gram, though! I've known couples that have lived together for many years, eating the same diet. One will develop heart disease while the other has vessels that are clean as a whistle. Go figure! I take a multivitamin each day, but don't take massive amounts of any supplement. An old doctor told me once that the body is smart....you can load up the GI tract with lots of junk, and it will take what it needs and pass out the rest! balletboy Answers to this message: |
