FACT: Ballet is one of the most difficult athletic activities there is, in terms of intensity, strength and endurance. It has been rated as harder than Hockey (the 3d hardest activity) and just a bit easier than football (the #1 hardest activity). But part of the point of ballet is to make it LOOK easy. It's not. If you don't believe me, take a ballet class with your girlfriend. You will never, never again claim that ballet is less intense than your workout at the gym. I'm sorry you have hangups about it being a "female" activity. Actually, ballet was originally for men only; women were not allowed to participate! But that changed over time. Yes, today ballet is pretty much a female world. You get used to hanging out around a LOT of women. But what's wrong with that? In any case, men in ballet are considered very macho. If you don't know what I mean, ask someone in the know about Barishnakov or Nuryev or Ethan Stiefel or Angel Corrella. Women drool over these men. Answers to this message: |
