the male dancer

His mother was a dancer in her youth, and is very happy about our son's request. My concerns are about the notion that male dancers are mostly gay. I donot want my son in that type of enviroment. When I read the comments by a so-called " balletboy" on this forum I get worried about this issue. I feel like that this is a forum for gay trolling by many of the comments that are made. I agree that if you son pursues ballet seriously, he will likely encounter a signigicant number of gay males. However, he will also encounter a significant number of straight males. Yours and his goal should be to look at ballet strictly as an art form, rather than some activity that will decide his sexual orientation. I agree that this is probably not an appropriate site for your son to access. If you really want a good site which focuses on all aspects of ballet, including the concerns of young male dancers, try danceart.com. Answers to this message: |
