the male dancer
written by Davos on 12.03. at 06:17:50 - as answer to: Wrap skirt by Bob at I agree with balletboy. Bad idea. Dancing and ballet have bad enough reps with the public without having guys wear dance skirts, (a), and (b), there are clearly defined roles of propriety in the dance world, including specific, delineated, aesthetic dress codes that are very different for men than for women. These dress codes are for reasons, and while one may take some leeway with them in practice to 'get the job done'... they are not without dozens of supporting reasons worked out over decades. More specifically... can the teacher see your hips as well in a wrap skirt? Can you fulfill your role as a masculine figure as well in a wrap skirt? I doubt it. Answers to this message: |
