Some venting...

Hmmm...that's strange that you guys mention that men are not used very well. Believe it or not, most schools I take classes at, they usually have performances in which I eventually figure out that they don't have any roles for the guys. Seems that they're too busy making them for the girls, and no one really wants to see men perform, they come to see the girls, they sell the tickets.

Well, I really stopped trying to get any more male parts. Usually the roles I'm offered are "character" roles that have nothing to do with ballet, or some silly dances. for example, here we're having our spring performance, and while the women are getting to do dances from Les Syphalde (sp?), Don Quixote, and Coppelia, the guys are being asked to do some sort of crappy Hawaiian dance (this dance is crappy, not tha Hawaiian dancing is crappy). Do I plan to partake in it? Nope, they can take this idea and shove it.

Guess I'm venting now. I guess what's getting me is that everyone is always looking for male dancers, and when we finally come along , they seem to do everything they can to make us perform these really crappy dances and just don't know how to use us.

So there, I said what I felt.
