It's interesting that if it is indeed an issue (and I am trying to prove it is because that is the premise of my piece) I wonder why I've only heard from men who basically have found acceptance from their family and friends. I'm very glad many male dancers have but when I ask around most of the "everyday Joe" kind of guys say, "Oh no - Not my son!" and when I question that they all pretty much reply that it is because they care what other people will think about their son if he dances. Bottom line: "people will think he's gay." I want point out the enormous flaw in that thinking to the general public. Gay or straight has nothing to do with the desire to dance or the natural talent of an individual and since most folks can agree on that then why does the phobia still exisit?
