You are learning a powerful lesson. People fear and notice difference and base expectations on stereotypes.

For this reason grades 7-12 are absolute hell. It gets much easier in college or real life. Why? In high school everyone is lumped together. It almost seems purposefully designed to promote a dull conformity.

After high school people gravitate towards environments that favor their own likes and pursuits. So you will find an environment in which your pursuit of ballet will be celebrated rather than frowned upon.

Develop a good poker-face and a well practiced shrug. And use them whenever someone trys to poke fun at you for being in ballet. Just make a mental note of the fact that you are increasing your physical and mental abilities through the rigorous discipline of ballet and they are not.

If people persist in taunting you, mention the fact that you've noticed THEY are investing an awful lot of time in making THEIR statments about you and then ask them why they like to fantasize about you and ballet this way. Ask them to explain whether or not they are "turned on" by thinking about you in this way. That should shut them up.

Use the internet to find other men in ballet who are going through the same experiences that you are. I think you'll find that there are a lot of other young men just like you who share your passions.
