The most important thingabout turnout is that it must come from the hips. Look at yourknees and feet when you're doing a plie: they should be pointingin the same direction. Reasons: (1) the reason for turnout is thehip joint in the first place; (2) if feet are turned out more thanhips, it puts strain on the knees & ankles. As for improving it, the only exercise I know of is to sit on thefloor with knees bent & with soles of feet touching. Then drawyour feet toward you & push your knees down toward the floor toopen out the hip joint. If it hurts, you're overdoing it. Hope this helps. Tom Parsons Answers to this message:
