Well it's not an addiction I'd worry about - it's got you in to a hobby that'll keep you exceptionally fit & healthy, long after your buddies have turned in to couch-potatoes or whatever. And if your 'addiction' is the only thing that keeps you in class, it's a good addiction to have!

As I said before, all that bothers me is that dance boards are disproportionately covered in fetish stuff etc. and it paints a distorted picture. (Likewise, there's no excuse for behaving badly in class and upsetting other people - which I'm sure you don't. But other people aren't being so considerate, apparently.)

>> I understand the repulsion that serious dancers feel towards people like me.

Well I don't count myself as a 'serious' dancer, but I certainly don't have any ill-feeling towards anyone for what they feel or enjoy. That would be on a level with homophobia, which I despise (believe it or not.)

But I do get fed up with posts like those on the "Fall in Love" thread - everything has it's place, and in my opinion, that doesn't belong here.

>>But I ask you, isn't there room in ballet for me?????

Of course there is!! Like there is for everyone - straight, gay, whatever persuasion. But always turning ballet in to some kind of sexuality/sensuality issue is to degrade something that's much more valuable.

>>>It took me many years to get the nerve to walk into my first ballet class. Now I'm taking ballet twice a week, and I'm beginning to not so much love it, as to understand what it takes to be a good dancer. I hope I have the drive to stick with it.

So do I; and I wish to support and encourage you all the way. I've said more than enough to make it clear what I'm on about, so please don't take it the wrong way.

And T.L.D. - good luck.

Anthony
