The ONLY place for testosterone

>I, for one, do not, unfortunately, have "normal male gonadal function," so I am obliged to take the ultimate androgen - testosterone itself.  There is one professional male danseur who has the same form of hypogonadism as me; I wish I knew who (I certainly wouldn't publish his name, if I did know).  Anyway, I coldn't dance, or do a lot of things, without testosterone; if you're male, you gotta have it.

Dancing Fool:

I did not intend any insult in my response.  I am fully aware that some men do need testosterone as replacement therapy due to a number of physical conditions.  I hope you were not offended.

I was more concerned with the suggestion of the original message, that taking androgens would make the male dancer jump higher, and perform better.

This type of idea has no place in the heads of our healthy young people.  Steroids are DRUGS, and are (Federally) controlled substances in most jurisdictions.

In addition, there are a lot of so-called health-food outlets that sell "androgens," particularly DHEA, with claims of amazing benefits to the male.  With these types of androgens, first, the body doesn't absorb a lot of the oral forms, and, second, that which is absorbed is most often not used because the mechanism whereby androgens become testosterone in the body will not convert androgens to testosterone if there is an appropriate supply of natural testosterone on board.  And don't get me started on the pushers that are around gyms who sell injectable forms of human hormones.

The only place for adjuvant testosterone is in those who have documented low levels of testosterone, and, under the direction of a physician.

The macho fools who buy androgens and similar substitutes don't realize that they're wasting their money on an expensive placebo.  And what's worse, these macho fools often brag about how great these steriod supplements are, when most healthy bodies don't need them and won't use the additional levels forced upon it.

Men have to realize that their bodies are "smart" and take what they need and excrete the rest.  Men must have the strength to discuss such facts and concerns with their physicians and not listen to the word of some bozo who experiments with drugs.
