What had happened was I was unsure of my schedule and in getting there in barely enough time, I showed up in my place at the barre with my leotard and, gulp, pantyhose. She (the teacher) gave me an absolute "NO" and would have sent me totally out of the class but for another girl who let me wear a pair of her own tights. I was very embarrassed for holding up the class but did feel better about it later on. The teacher I had then was a real traditionalist and did her best to instill in me and the others a real respect for the tradition of ballet. Again, I hope your question was a real one.
