I hate ballet, but---

The ballet school where I take classes had a recital today and I went. And Idied of boredom. I left after the second piece. I only stayed for it because myballet teacher choreographed it, and I was curious.  I loved watching the dancers, and I admired them for the technical skills theydisplayed, their athleticism, their attitude.  I was stilled bored with it. And I know why, these were just individual piecesand not a story. There was no plot, no theme. The dancers were great, but I feltno connection with what they were doing on the stage.                                          According to the co-director of the company, some ballet companies are closing or cutting back. They have no money.   I go to the movies, to be entertained, by heroes and villians, tragic figures, winners and losers. Star Wars, Dracula, King Arthur, Excalibur.  I have to wonder if this what more companies should be doing. Not so muchindividual pieces, but stories, they don't have to be long.  Now what may be rather interesting, is that although I becamed bored at therecital, I still like going to adult ballet. Strange, huh?
