 Male dancewear

Instead of a dance belt, I use women's extra-firm control-top sheer tights, like Donna Karan "essential toner" under my tights. Is this acceptable or am I being a total nerd? A couple of times I have worn a black leotard over black tights, which I find sensible and comfortable, as it eliminates the need for a belt, but I still wear control-tops under my dance tights. Once I wore black bike shorts over women's suntan sheer tights, and I had the feeling that the girls were giggling at me, although no one said anything about my outfit.
