Ballet is an excellent way to keep fit, and the cordination of the movement to the music is much more fun than ploding around in the gym. I was intersted in ballet before puberty. As a danseur, I believe dancewear is a uniform, what I wear to work. You'll find that as you get more into ballet the dancewear will become second nature, without connotations.
