the male dancer
written by Jas on 29.12. at 07:06:19 I have just started male pointe classes at my ballet school in Sydney, Australia. I don't understand why guys shouldn't do pointe aswell! I believe pointe work for men is a feat of strength rather than suggesting flight as for girls. I have recently started putting guys on pointe in performances (only with themselves not putting them in traditional ballets). Of course they do not wear pink pointe shoes like the girls but black ones. They start pointe classes at 13 so a year after the girls. Mainly male pointe technique is hops on pointe and relevees. Some of my older students (one is 16 five are 17) can land a small jump on pointe so i am also developing that skill. What do you guys think? Please tell me! Answers to this message:
