the male dancer
written by Leslie at on 30.12. at 00:11:43 - as answer to: Male Pointe Classes by Jas I am 16 and have been taking pointe work since 11 when I was in RAD Elementary V. I am taking 2, sometimes 3 intensive pointe classes (1 hour each) besides 4 regular classes. I am in Advanced I now. Arabesque, attitude effacee derriere, croisee devant, bourrees bourrees and pirouettes inattatued and arabesques, rond de jambe en tournant etc is quita easy for me. I caneven do entrechat quarte and land en pointe.Being the only boy in class, I am used to snickering from the girls when I started, but when I began to dance as well, or even better than most girls, they accepted me. I always wear pink shoes and have no reason to be different than the girls and wear black ones. I only wear black ones when it was required in some performances, like the chinese dance in the Nut. Otherwise it was always pink for me. I don't think I will love ballet so much and want the discipline to be my career if I can't dance on pointe because I am a boy. Answers to this message:
