I used to sneak into my mom's room and take out a pair of pink tights she had. After some time of this (and here I thought I was SO careful to put them back "just right"), she confronted me. I was about five or six at the time. She was so insistant, not angry but kept saying, "Why were you wearing mommie's pink tights? You're a little BOY" over and over, making me feel SO BAD....HUMILIATED! I often think that if she didn't make such a big deal over it, that it may have been a passing thing. But that taboo, made it all the more needed. Back to the main topic of this thread: while I had no sisters, I did have a younger cousin, who around this time, let me wear her tights and leotards. What a rush that was! Too bad she lived in another state. I also put on her older sister's tutus, but they were much too large for me, and I suck with her navy blue tights and leotards. --EMPIRA
