Ballet can besuch an obsession, such an important part of one's life (justask Dancer At Last, formerly known as Riddler!). You weren't*ashamed* of doing ballet, were you? Impossible! Did you thinkshe Wouldn't Understand? How could you get involved with anyonewho could not understand such a big part of your life? (I knew a girl who once asked a newlywed friend, "How could youmarry someone who doesn't like science fiction?" Well...howcould you get involved with someone who doesn't understandballet?) And what on earth did you talk about? Or, more important, whenyou had an especially good class (or an especially bad one), howcould you get through the evening without sharing it with her?(The first thing my wife asks me when I come home from a classis, "How did it go?"--thus giving me an opportunity to exult, orto cry on her shoulder.)
