Footed leggings vs. tights

To my surprise, the footed leggings I bought really are more comfortable than the M. Stevens tights I've been wearing, and they fit better too.  But all they are is just tights, there's really no other difference.

Does anyone know why Bal Togs would call tights by another name?  Or why this product isn't sold more widely?
